Me at Land's End

Welcome to my revamped web site. An overhaul has been long overdue. Where possible I have used Cascading Style Sheets and Internal Style Sheets but I have found difficulty in getting the layout to appear as I want it to in all the more common browsers, especially Internet Explorer, which seems to be a law unto itself and does not recognise many of the standards now in use.
So I have been forced to use tables on pages like this one where there are a number of photographs, to keep the layout as I want it across several browsers.
However all the pages have been validated for HTML 4.01 Transitional, so there shouldn't be any problems.

These three ladies on the right are the loves of my life! They of course are my wife June and our two grand-daughters, Emma and Rebecca. June and I used to live in Ramsgate, Kent while Emma and Rebecca lived 360 miles away in Falmouth, Cornwall so we didn’t see as much of them as we would have liked. Now we live just a few miles from them - close enough to be handy but far enough away not to be too handy, so we see a lot of them, which I enjoy.
More family photos can be viewed by clicking on the link at the top of the page.

Clouston Crest

One of my hobbies is researching my family tree. The crest on the left is that of one branch of the Clouston family. Anyone interested in researching their Clouston connections is very welcome to view my “Family of Clouston” page where they will find some more information. Just click on the Family of Clouston link at the top of the page.

We start them young in our family! This was Emma a few years ago making sure I’d set up my old computer for her just the way she wanted it.

Pegwell sketch

I took early retirement from H. M. Coastguard in 1991 because of ill-health. Continued ill-health meant that I was declared “unfit for all work” but am now a fully fledged pensioner. All this spare time means I have got a bit more time to spend on my hobbies - computing, family tree and reading.
Typing the local village Newsletter for where I used to live in Ramsgate, is one of my voluntary duties, which I still enjoy doing.
